Nantucket Guide

Fun on the Island

Our Nantucket hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Old Nantucket Town. Walk out the door and explore the Island on foot or by bicycle.

Beaches

Grab a Veranda House tote and towel and head for the beach. Nantucket's calm harbor side beaches are within walking distance of the hotel. The surf at Nantucket's south shore beaches is just a short bicycle ride away. Click here for a Nantucket beach listing and map. Check out our Beach Concierge Program

Bicycling

The island's three major bicycle and moped rental shops are all within four blocks of the hotel. We also have a bicycle storage area for you to park your bikes at the hotel.

Fishing, Sailing, Watersports, & Whale Watching

From charter fishing or whale watching to sailing lessons, sailing charters and sea-kayaking, we can arrange the most exciting seafaring activities that Nantucket has to offer.

Golf

Miacomet Golf Course, located in the rolling hummocks southwest of Nantucket town, is the only public golf course on the island. The 18-hole course offers breathtaking views and challenging golf shots. Veranda House staff members can assist you in securing a tee time.

Historical Tours

Nantucket's Historical Association and private tour operators host both walking and van tours of the island's many historical landmarks.

Nature Hikes

Head out to one of Nantucket's pristine wildlife areas and amble through miles of untouched beaches, rolling grasslands and moors, ponds, bogs, shrublands and forests. Over 13,000 acres of land, nearly 45% of the island, is protected, allowing for the preservation of unique habitats and rare or endangered plants and animals.

Restaurants

Most of Nantucket's best restaurants are located in town, just steps from the hotel. We will gladly suggest and reserve the perfect restaurant for you. We also maintain a menu book for your perusal. Some of our current favorites:
